Carnival

Carnival, mask and masquerade ball. 

For its quality, masquerade ball has become a fevorite setting in literature and theatre: from Poe's The Masque of Red Death to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, from The Phantom of the Opera to Verdi's A Masked Ball.

The world upside down, out of the time, opposed to law, like Bakhtin's carnival world, where the established order is overthrown and there are social inversions. This reversal is a sort of relief valve, but when it finishes everything comes back and the show disappears.

Carnevale, maschere e feste in costume.

Le feste in maschera hanno sempre affascinato, diventando un'ambientazione molto utilizzata in letteratura e teatro: da The Masque of Red Death di Poe a  Romeo e Giulietta di  Shakespeare, dal celebre Fantasma dell'Opera a Un ballo in maschera di Verdi. 

 Il mondo alla rovescia, fuori dal tempo, opposto alle regole, come il mondo carnevalesco di  Bakhtin, dove si rovesciano l'ordine costituito e le regole sociali. Questo capovolgimento è una sorta di valvola di sfogo, ma quando finisce, tutto ritorna come prima e lo spettacolo svanisce.
